Coffee is as important export commodity for Indonesia. The devisa produced in 1995 achieved for 606,396 US$ and it was derived from export for 230,201 ton of coffee. Coffee production in Indonesia Is dominated by Robusta coffee achieving for 417,972 ton, whereas, Arabica coffee only for 39,829 ton (General Directorate of Plantation, 1997). In world market of coffee, the demand for Arabica coffee is far bigger compared with Robusta coffee. It can be seen from price rate of Arabica coffee which is always higher compared with Robusta coffee. Based on such as condition, there is big opportunity to increase the Arabica coffee production in Indonesia. Selling price rate of coffee obtainted from the plantation in Indonesia is determined by the demand and supply condition of the world market and Rupiah exchange toward foreign exchange rate. Nowadays, the price of coffee in plantation tend to increase sharply parallel with the more weak of Rupiah exchange. Thus, coffee business promises bigger profit then previously. By the existence of incentive in high price rate, it is expected that there will be increase in coffee production, especially Arabica coffee which is directly or indirectly can increase the farmer's income.
