Identitas Tempat dan Pengaruhnya Terhadap Pariwisata Heritage, Studi Kasus Kota Medan Indonesia

Abstract

Opportunity to enjoy the portraits of the past has offerred tourists a distinctive experience, this typical experiences will create emotional and psychological relationship between tourists and the places. This place has an identity that is more than just a mere geographical formations, that is why heritage tourism is one type of tourism that famous today. By using mixed-method (qualitative and quantitative), this research covers two main areas; heritage tourism and place identity. The framework is made to study the effect of the identity of a place on heritage tourism that is the location of the study, namely KSD (Region Sultan of Deli), KK (Region Kesawan) and KLM (Region Merdeka Square). Total 360 questionnaires were retrieved and 10 respondents in depth interview. Observations were also conducted to obtain the physical characteristics. Processing and data analysis was done by triangulation method and the results of the processing of these data were used to achieve the purpose of the inquiry. Results of the study demonstrated that heritage tourism in research area is only strong in aspects of continuity and distinctiveness, and very low in the aspect of self-esteem and self- efficacy. Thats is why tourism in this area is not developed, even tended to decrease; the number of tourists each year has declined. These findings demonstrated that the identity of a place are supportted by the four aspects of the place identity; continuity, self-esteem, self- efficacy and the distinctiveness, they must be balanced existence to achieve well-developed heritage tourism.

Kesempatan untuk menikmati potret-potret masa lalu yang ditawarkan kepada para wisatawan memberikan pengalaman yang khas kepada para wisatawan sehingga pariwisata heritage merupakan salah satu jenis pariwisata yang diminati saat ini. Pengalaman- pengalaman yang khas tersebut maka akan menciptakan reaksi emosional dan psikologis antara wisatawan dan tempat tersebut sehingga tempat tersebut memiliki identitas lebih dari sekedar bentukan geografis semata. Dengan menggunakan kaedah campuran (kualitatif dan kuantitatif), penyelidikan ini mencakup dua bidang utama yaitu pariwisata heritage dan identitas tempat. SaN framework dibuat untuk mengkaji pengaruh identitas tempat terhadap pariwisata heritage yang ada dilokasi kajian yaitu KSD (Kawasan Sultan Deli), KK (Kawasan Kesawan) dan KLM (Kawasan Lapangan Merdeka). Total responden kuisioner yang diambil berjumlah 360 orang dan 10 orang responden depth interview. Pengamatan kawasan juga dilakukan untuk mendapatkan ciri fisik dan karakter fisik yang ada dikawasan kajian. Pengolahan dan analisis data dilakukan dengan kaedah triangulasi dan hasil dari pengolahan data-data tersebut akan digunakan untuk mencapai tujuan penyelidikan. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahawa pariwisata heritage dikawasan kajian hanya kuat dalam aspek continuity dan distinctiveness, dan sangat rendah di aspek self-esteem dan self-efficacy. Hal tersebut menghasilkan dunia pariwisata yang tidak berkembang, bahkan cenderung menurun dikawasan kajian sehingga jumlah wisatawan setiap tahun semakin menurun. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahawa untuk mendukung identitas suatu tempat maka ke-4 aspek identitas tempat continuity, self-esteem, self-efficacy dan distinctiveness tersebut harus ada dan seimbang keberadaannya agar pariwisata heritage dikawasan tersebut tetap ada dan terus berkembang.
