Evaluasi Kesesuaian Lahan Alpukat Berdasarkan Sistem Lahan Menggunakan Sistem Informasi Geografis
Abstract
Land suitability is the activities to compare the requirements demanded by the type of land use with the
properties or qualities of land owned by the land use. One of Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
application is to evaluate land suitability classes. This study was conducted to assess land suitability for
alpukat (Persea Americana) under different land system in Lau Simbelin Sub watershed Alas watershed, Dairi
District, North Sumatra Province. In this study was used survey method to take soil samples in the field,
matching method to analyze the suitability of land, and the GIS tools to map the land suitability classes. Land
suitability classification was evaluated based on matching method. The process of land suitability classification
is the appraisal and grouping of specific areas of land in terms of their suitability for defined uses. The results
showed that the land suitability class for alpukat was suitable (S1) on several land systems in Lau Simbelin
Sub watershed Alas watershed, Dairi District, North Sumatra Province. Hence, the alpukat can be developed
in this area.
