The objective of the research was to examine the creation of knowledge and intellectual property which consisted of human capital, structural capital, and customer capital. The main objective was to find out direct and indirect correlation of the creation of knowledge with structural capital and customer capital through human capital as intervening variable research adopted the measurement of KM ( knowledge management) in order to find out the creation of knowledge at Bak BUMN, Medan Regional Office. The conclusion of the research was that the creation of knowledgehad significant influence on human capital accumulation. Internalization was considered as the creation of the main knowledge in banking industry. Human reseource had significant influence on structural capital and customer capital. Customer capital had significant influence on the establishment of structural capital. Company should determine their strong mechanism to create knowledge for increasing their capacity in creating knowledge. The creation of knowledge in a bank should be focused on the change and share of information. It is recommended that a bank adopt brainstorming and workshop, and the correlative approach be oriented to a team. A manager in banking industry should identify the methods of developing intellectual capital and have comprehensive development in intellectual capital in order to increase the company's competitiviness. Concrete asset gradually becomes weak and is shifted to knowledge and intellectual capital; therefore, knowledge management becomes an important strategy in a company's competitiveness.
