dc.description.abstractAngka kejadian gangguan pendengaran di masyarakat masih cukup tinggi. Selain infeksi, penyakit metabolik seperti DM, pemakaian obat-obat ototoksik dan kebisingan masih menjadi perhatian dan ikut menjadi salah satu penyebab gangguan pendengaran. Penelitian yang lalu telah membuktikan bahwa curcumin sebagai antioksidan mampu mencegah kerusakan koklea pada Rattus Norvegicus yang diinduksi bising pada tingkat protein (Hsp70, NFkJ3, TLR-2, TLR-4, MMP-9 dan Kolagen tipe IV). Terdapat kemiripan histopatologi kerusakan koklea yang terjadi akibat DM, pemakaian obat-obat ototoksik maupun akibat bising, yaitu berupa kerusakan pada fibroblas, stria vaskularis, sel-sel ram but dan sel-sel ganglion spiralis. Untuk itu perlu adanya penelitian lanjutan yang membuktikan hal ini, mengingat curcumin sudah terbukti sebelumnya mampu mencegah dan mengobati kerusakan koklea yang diinduksi bising pada tingkat protein.id
dc.description.abstractThe high incidence of hearing impairment is still encountered in communities. In addition to infection, metabolic diseases (such as diabetes mellitus), ototoxic medications and noise exposure still remain as a concern and also contribute to the development of hearing impairment. Previous study has demonstrated curcumin as the antioxidant preventing noise-induced cochlear damage in Rattusnorvegicus at protein level (Hsp70, NF-kβ, TLR2, TLR4, MMP9, type IV collagen). Cochlear damageresulting from diabetes mellitus, ototoxic medications and noise exposure bears remarkable resemblance in histopathologic appearances, including damage to fibroblasts within the striavascularis, hair cells and spiral ganglion cells. Accordingly, advanced research is required to authenticate such histopathologic features, taking into account that in previous study, curcumin showed beneficial effect to prevent and treat noise-induced cochlear damage at protein level.id
