dc.description.abstractThe utilization of medicinal plants progressively growing in the society, one of which is mahkota dewa (Phaleria macrocarpa (Scheff) Boerl) the leaves are allegedly to have activity as an imunomodulatory This plants contains alkaloid, flavonoid, saponin, and triterpenoid. The purpose of this study was to determine the immunomodulatory activity of n-hexane extract mahkota dewa (EHDMD) leaves in male mice. The research involved collection and preparation of mahkota dewa leaves, preparation of mahkota dewa leaves n-heksan extract by maceration method and examination of imunomodulatory effect by carbon clearance method to determine carbon elimination rate, phagocytic index, and the stimulation index. Animals used were 25 male mice. Mice were divided into 5 groups, each groups consist of 5 mice. Negative control was given 1% CMC-Na, positive control was given imboost® 32.5 mg/kg bw, and the administration n-hexane extract of mahkota dewa leaves at doses of 25, 50, and 100 mg/kg bw. The amount of carbon in the blood was measured by it is absorbance using a spectrophotometry to determine carbon elimination rate in the blood. Constanta carbon elimination rate was calculated as well as index phagocytic and stimulation index. The results showed that the administration EHDMD at dose of 25, 50, and 100 mg/kg bw can increase the rate carbon elimination , phagocytic index, and stimulation index as compared to the negative control (p< 0.05). EHDMD at dose of 100 mg/kg bw showed an increase of carbon elimination rate compared to EHDMD at dose of 25, and 50 mg/kg bw. Phagocytic index EHDMD at dose of 25, 50, and 100 mg/kg bw in a row was 0.0616; 0.0773; and 0.1068. Stimulation index EHDMD at dose of 25, 50, and 100 mg/kg bw in a row was 1.9617; 2.4617; and 3.4012. EHDMD at dose of 100 mg / kg bw show the value of phagocytic index and stimulation index compared to EHDMD at doses of 25 and 50 mg / kg bw. Based on the results, it can be concluded that EHDMD at doses of 25, 50 and 100 mg/kg bw revealed immunomodulatory effect, especially as immunostimulant by increasing the phagocytic index and stimulation index of the white male as compared to the negative control (p< 0.05). EHDMD at dose of 100 mg / kg bw showed immunomodulatory effect more powerful than EHDMD at doses of 25 and 50 mg / kg bw but the results were lower than the positive control (Imboost®).en_US
