Analisis Literasi Informasi Pengguna Perpustakaan Universitas Sumatera Utara
Abstract
The purpose of this study was to analyze information literacy library users of University of Sumatera Utara using ACRL standards which have five competencies, determines the nature and extent of the information needed, accesses needed information effectively and efficiently, evaluates information and its sources critically and incorporates selected information into his or her knowledge base and value system, uses information effectively to accomplish a specific purpose, and understands many of the economic, legal, and social issues surrounding the use of information and accesses and uses information ethically and legally. The research used quantitative research method with a descriptive explanation. The results showed that 71.25% of respondents stated the need of information literacy training in University of Sumatera Utara. The average score of all information literacy standard of the Library University of Sumatera Utara users is 3.15. The score is included in the category of interval fair. Average rating is 3.29 on standard one, 3.08 standard two, 3.10 standard three and 3.15 for standard four and five. University of Sumatera Utara is expected to arrange the information literacy training. To be more focused, Library University of Sumatera Utara needs to determine the needs of information literacy and arrange the model of information literacy.
