Pemberitaan ISIS dan Sikap Mahasiswa (Studi Korelasional Tentang Hubungan Antara Pemberitaan ISIS di TV One dan Sikap Mahasiswa FISIP USU)

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimanakah berita ISIS di TV One mempengaruhi sikap mahasiswa FISIP USU. Teori yang digunakan adalah Komunikasi, Komunikasi Massa, Teori S-O-R, Televisi sebagai Media Komunikasi, Berita, Terorisme dan Sikap. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode korelasional, yaitu metode yang melihat sejauhmana pengaruh antara satu variabel terhadap variabel lainnya. Populasi dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 698 orang. Untuk menentukan jumlah sampel digunakan rumus Taro Yamane dengan presisi 10%, maka sampel yang diambil sebesar 87 orang. Teknik penarikan sampel yang digunakan adalah Sampel Stratifikasi Proporsional dan Purposive Sampling. Teknik pengumpulan data, peneliti menggunakan metode kuesioner (Field Research) dan metode kepustakaan (Library Research). Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah analisis tabel tunggal, analisis tabel silang dan uji hipotesis dengan menggunakan SPSS-13, berdasarkan analisis SPSS-13, maka diperoleh koefisien korelasi sebesar 0.512. Untuk melihat kuat lemahnya korelasi kedua variabel digunakan skala Guilford. Hasil 0.512 berada di skala 0.40 - 0.70 yang menunjukkan adanya hubungan yang cukup berarti antara Pemberitaan ISIS di TV One dan Sikap Mahasiswa FISIP USU. Untuk menguji tingkat signifikansi pengaruh variabel X terhadap Y digunakan koefisien pengaruh dan rank-order dengan nilai signifikan 0.00 maka hipotesis diterima dan hubungan signifikan. Dari hasil penelitian diketahui bahwa kekuatan pengaruh variabel X terhadap variabel Y dalam penelitian ini adalah sebesar 26,2% dan terdapat 73,8% faktor-faktor lain yang tidak dapat diukur pada penelitian ini.

This research was conducted to determine how news coverage of ISIS on TV One affect the students attitudes in the FISIP USU. The theories used are Communication, Mass Communication, SOR theory, Television as Media Communications, News, Terrorism and attitude. The method used is the correlation method, a method that examine the extent of influence of one variable to another variable. The population in this research amounted to 698 students. To determine the number of samples used Taro Yamane formula with a precision of 10%, the samples were by 87 students. The sampling technique used are Proportional Stratification samples and purposive sampling. The Data collection techniques used are the method of questionnaire (Field Research) and the method of literature (Library Research). Therefore the Data Analysis thecnique using singular table and cross table with SPSS 13. Based on the analysis of SPSS 13, the result of correlation coefficient is 0.512. To view the strength of the correlation between the two variables used Guilford scale. 0.512 results are in scale 0:40 - 0.70 which showed a significant relationship between News Coverage of ISIS on TV One and Students Attitudes in the FISIP USU. To test the significance of the effect of variable X to Y to use the coefficient of influence and rank-order with 0:00 significant value then the hypothesis is accepted and significant relationship. The survey results revealed that the strength of the effect of variable X to variable Y in this study was 26.2% and 73.8% are other factors that can not be measured in this study.
