    Abstract
Trichuris trichiura infection is one of the more common Soil-Transmitted Helminth (STH) infections in Indonesia, which could impair nutritional state, anemia, chronic imflammatory digestion, impair children’s growth, study and school attendance. The purpose of this study is to compare the effectivity of single dose albendazole 400 mg for 2 days and 3 days against trichuriasis, by a double blind ramdomized clinical trial on 61 children at SDN 102052 Bagan Kuala. Group I (n = 30) was given single dose albendazole 400 mg for 2 days and group II (n = 31) was given single dose albendazole 400 mg for 3 days. Kato-Katz method was used for stool examinations before and after drug administration on days 7, 14, 21 and 28. Data obtained were analyzed by using Chi-Square, t and Friedman tests. Single dose Abendazole 400 mg for 2 days and 3 days showed the cure rates 70% and 96.8%, respectively. Administration of albendazole 400 mg for 3 days was significantly more effective than albendazole 400 mg for 2 days.
