    Abstract
    Telah dilakukan penelitian tentang pembuatan dan karakterisasi komposit polimer dari polipropilena bekas - kulit tanduk kopi . Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh variasi komposisi serbuk kulit kaca kopi dan polipropilena bekas terhadap karakteristik komposit plastik. Perbandingan komposisi polipropilena bekas, polipropilena termodifikasi asam akrilat, dan serbuk kulit kaca kopi, yang digunakan masing-masing (100 : 0 : 0) gr, (65 : 10 : 25) gr, (55 : 10 : 35) gr, (45 : 10 : 45) gr, (35 : 10 : 55) gr, dan (25 : 10 : 65) gr, dengan asam akrilat yang berfungsi sebagai kompatibilizer (penyesuai) dan benzoil peroksida sebagai inisiator pembentuk ikatan silang. Pembuatan komposit plastik ini menggunakan metode refluks dengan menambahkan 300 ml xylene sebagai pelarut. Karakterisasi yang dilakukan meliputi pengujian fisis (densitas dan daya serap air) serta pengujian mekanik (kuat impak dan kuat tarik). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa karakteristik komposit plastik dipengaruhi oleh komposisi serbuk kulit kaca kopi. Hasil penelitian yang diperoleh untuk uji densitas sebesar 0,6991 gr.ml-1 – 0,538 gr.ml-1 memenuhi standar SNI 03-2105-2006 (0,5 g.ml-1 – 0,9 gr.ml-1); uji daya serap air sebesar 0,304 % - 2.077 % memenuhi standar SNI 03- 2105-2006 (<14%); uji tarik sebesar 2,290MPa – 18,445MPa memenuhi standar ASTM D- 638 (≥ 3,08 ) untuk sampel 1 – IV; uji impak sebesar 1532,5 J.m-2 – 4843,1 J.m-2 memenuhi standar ASTM D – 256.
     
    Research of the manufacture and characterization of the polymer composite utilized a trace of polypropylene and parchment of coffee bean had been done. The research aims to determine the effect of variations in the composition of the parchment of coffee bean and the trace polypropylene on the characteristics of composite plastic. Comparison of the composition of the trace polypropylene, acrylic acid modified polypropylene, and parchment of coffee bean, which are used, respectively (100: 0: 0) g, (65: 10: 25) g, (55: 10: 35) g, (45: 10: 45) g, (35: 10: 55) g, and (25: 10: 65) g, with acrylic acid as compatibilizer ( adjustment) and benzoyl peroxide as an initiator forming crosslinks. The plastic composite manufacturing method was refluxed by adding 300 ml of xylene as a solvent. Characterization testing was conducted on the physical properties (density and water absorption) as well as the testing of mechanical properties (impact strength and tensile strength). The results of the research showed that the characteristics of the plastic composite is affected by the composition of the parchment of coffee bean. The result that getting from the research for test of density viz 0,6991 gr.ml-1 – 0,538 gr.ml-1 fulfill SNI 03 – 2105 – 2006 standard (0,5 g.ml-1 – 0,9 gr.ml-1); test of water absorption viz 0,304 % - 2.077 % fulfill SNI 03 – 2105 – 2006 standard (<14%); test of tensile strength viz 2,290MPa – 18,445MPa fulfill ASTM D – 638 standard (≥ 3,08 ) for sample I – IV; test of impact strength viz 1532,5 J.m-2 – 4843,1 J.m-2 fulfill ASTM D – 256 standard.
