The purpose of this research is to investigate the process of a word formation which derived from a shortened form of a word process called abbreviation or shouryakugo in Japanese. In the study of abbreviation (Shouryakugo) examines the acrorrym, clipping or ryakugo in Japanese. Ryakugo is a word shortened from the long form with a shortened one part of the word, or by cutting part of the word form. The data of ryakugo will be analized the part of ryakugo and the formation pattern will be formulated This research uses a a descriptive qualitative methodological research with content analysis, and using library research The research based on structural morphology method which taking data source from newspapers, textbooks, comics and existing data on the internet. The data in this research is a shortened from the long form of the word, which corifigurate a new word while perpetuating parts of letters or syllables in each componem.The data analyzing uses the word data, the rules of word formation and the analysis of word connstruction formation. The Research findings indicate that the process of word formation ryakugo Japanese are 8 types ryakugo and divided in 3 ryakugo pattern formation in the form of acronyms, and abbreviations fragment. The third pattern is examined based on the format kanji, hiragana, katakana and romaji.Different letter characters between Indonesian and Japanese influence the different construction of ryakugo formation pattern in Japanese and acrorrym in Indonesian.
