dc.description.abstract | Acute Respiratory Infection (ARI) is one of the major causes of mortality and morbidity in children under 5 years. ARI symptoms are very commonly found in the community. ARI is a major problem for children both in developed and developing countries. According to Riskerdas, children and toddlers are very vulnerable to infection due to low immunity system. That causes the prevalence and symptoms of respiratory infection are very high for children.
This research is a descriptive study conducted in ARI patients at Padang Bulan health center from June to October 2012 which aimed to determine the prevalence of patients with ARI in children based on age, sex, and the main complaint. The study population is the entire medical record of ARI cases in 2011 by using a consecutive sampling processed with SPSS and presented in frequency distribution.
The results shown that the prevalence of ARI at Padang Bulan Health Center in 2011 was 202 cases. The incident mostly found in the age group 1-3 year which number was about100 patients (49.5%), female was more common than male, the number was 106 patients (52.5%), and fever was the most common main complaint, found in 54 patients (26.7%).
Based on the results above, ARI was most commonly found in female children. | en_US |
