Title: Pengaruh Sosio Budaya dan Dukungan Keluarga terhadap Pencegahan Infeksi Kecacingan pada Anak Sekolah Dasar Negeri 050602 di Kecamatan Kuala Kabupaten Langkat

Abstract: The result of survey done in 2008 at 18 Primary Schools in 9 (nine) districts/cities in the Province of Sumatra Utara revealed that the prevalence of the students suffering from wormy disease was high enough and varied between 50% and 91%. Sumatera Utara Provincial Health Service estimated that at least 400,000 Primary School students were suffering from wormy disease, especially in the grassroots population. Based on the feces examination conducted in 4 (four) Public Primary Schools in Kuala Subdistrict, it was found out that 297 (57.12%) of 520 students were wormy-infected. The purpose of this survey study with cross-sectional approach was to analyze the influence of socio-culture and family support on the prevention of wormy-infection in the students of Public Primary School No. 050602 in Kuala Subdistrict, Langkat District. The population of this study were 95 mothers of the students of Public Primary School No. 050602 in Kuala Subdistrict, Langkat District. The data for this study were obtained through questionnaire-based interviews and then analyzed through multiple logistic regression tests. The result of this study showed that statistically the variable of family support (information, evaluation and emotional supports) had influence on the prevention of worm-infection in the students of Public Primary School in Kuala Subdistrict, Langkat District. Information support was the most dominant variable in the prevention of wormy-infection. Health officers are expected to provide extension on the prevention of wormy-infection and socialize it to the mothers of the students of Public Primary School.
Abstract (other language): Hasil survei tahun 2008 pada 18 Sekolah Dasar (SD) di 9 kabupaten/kota di Propinsi Sumatera Utara menunjukkan prevalensi kecacingan cukup tinggi dan bervariasi antara 50% s/d 91%. Dinas Kesehatan Propinsi Sumatera Utara mengestimasi sedikitnya 400.000 anak SD menderita kecacingan, terutama pada golongan penduduk yang kurang mampu. Berdasarkan hasil pemeriksaan tinja yang dilakukan di 4 SD Negeri di Kecamatan Kuala dari 520 siswa ditemukan sebanyak 297 (57,12%) siswa terinfeksi cacing. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis pengaruh sosio budaya dan dukungan keluarga terhadap pencegahan infeksi kecacingan pada anak Sekolah Dasar No. 050602 di Kecamatan Kuala Kabupaten Langkat. Jenis penelitian ini adalah survei dengan pendekatan cross sectional. Populasi penelitian adalah orang tua (ibu) murid Sekolah Dasar Negeri No. 050602 di Kecamatan Kuala Kabupaten Langkat yang berjumlah 95 orang. Data diperoleh dengan wawancara menggunakan kuesioner, dianalisis dengan regresi logistik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa secara statistik variabel dukungan keluarga (dukungan informasi, dukungan penilaian, dan dukungan emosional) memiliki pengaruh terhadap pencegahan infeksi kecacingan pada anak Sekolah Dasar Negeri di Kecamatan Kuala Kabupaten Langkat.Variabel yang paling dominan terhadap pencegahan infeksi kecacingan adalah dukungan informasi. Diharapkan kepada tenaga kesehatan khususnya promosi kesehatan agar memberikan penyuluhan dan sosialisasi kepada ibu dan murid-murid SD untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan tentang pencegahan infeksi kecacingan.
