Prevalensi dan Karakteristik Penderita Kanker Payudara di Departemen Bedah Rumah Sakit Umum Pusat Haji Adam Malik Medan Tahun 2010

Abstract

Introduction: Breast Cancer is a malignant neoplastic disease which attack female breast organ. In In Indonesia, breast cancer is the second killer after cervical cancer. This disease can cause death and had become a burden to the world, in the year 2004 as many as 510 000 women died because of breast cancer. Methodology: The study design was cross sectional descriptive. The subject of this study were as many as 312 people with the characteristics of female patients with breast cancer and getting treatment at the Department of Oncology, RSUP Haji Adam Malik, Medan in 2010. All patient data taken from secondary data, namely the medical record. Research Purposes: The purpose of this study was to determine the prevalence and characteristics of breast cancer in women who were treated at the Department of Oncology, Dr H. Adam Malik in 2010. Results: A total of 312 women found those who suffer from breast cancer in RSUP. Haji Adam Malik, Medan.The group of age between 45-64 years is a group with most women, with 176 women (56.4%). A total of 148 women (47.4%) had menopause. In addition, a total of 210 women (67.3%) came with late phase, stadium IV and the most complaint among these women is lump , with 208 people (66.7%). Distribution of cancer location at the right and left almost the same and the most of the risk factors menopausal. Conclusion: The estimated occurrence of breast cancer in women, particularly in the field is increasing and patients who come to the hospital for treatment usually already on the late stage. All parties should take part in efforts to provide education and counseling to women about breast health that it will not be a burden to us all.
