Pengaruh Karakteristik Ibu dan Dukungan Suami terhadap Pemberian Imunisasi BCG Pada Bayi di Wilayah Kerja Puskesmas Aekraja Kabupaten Tapanuli Utara Tahun 2011

Abstract

BCG (Bacille Calmette Guerin) immunization is the injection of BCG vaccine into a baby which is aimed to form active immunity from tuberculosis. The implementation of BCG immunization at the working area of Aekraja Health Center, Tapanuli Utara District in 2010 was still far from what it had been expected, such as from the Minimum Service Standard of District/Town (100%) which was stipulated in the Regulations of the Minister of Health, Republic of Indonesia No. 741/PER/VII/2008. The type of this research was survey with explanatory research which was aimed to explain the mothers’ characteristics (education, occupation, knowledge, and attitude), and their husbands’ support in giving BCG Immunization to babies at the working area of Aekraja Health Center, Tapanuli Utara District in 2011. The population were 67 mothers who delivered babies from January until April at the working area of Aekraja Health Center, Tapanuli Utara District, in 2011. All of them were used as the sample of the research. The primary data were collected by using interviews and questionnaires and analyzed by using logistic regression tests. The result of the research showed that the variables which influenced on the giving of BCG immunization were education (p = 0.011), knowledge (p = 0.016), and husbands’ support (p = 0.007). The variables which did not influence on the giving of BCG immunization were occupation (p =0.075) and attitude (p = 0.307). Based on the result of the research, it is recommended that the management of Aekraja Health Center to increase their immunization service, especially BCG immunization, and the identification of diseases by conducting training to the immunization workers so that immunization counseling could run well. Immunization counseling, especially BCG, was not only given to mothers who had babies, but also to their husbands and all members of the family so that their husbands would strengthen their support in giving BCG immunization.
