Title: Optimasi Proses Koagulasi Dalam Penjernihan Air Limbah Di Pt. Sinar Oleochemical International (Soci) Medan Berdasarkan Pengaruh Konsentrasi Penambahan Poli Aluminium Klorida Untuk Menurunkan Turbiditas Air Limbah

Abstract: One of the wastewater treatments at PT. Sinar Oleochemical International (SOCI) is Coagulation and Flocculation. Coagulation process is conducted by adding Poly Aluminium Chloride (PAC) as coagulant which has to be added under certain circumstances. One of the factors affecting the work of PAC is pH-level of wastewater, and due to the fact of that, Natrium Hydroxide should be added to control the pH-level of wastewater. With the help of NaOH to keep the pH-level remain at 8, the concentration of PAC added is made various ranging from 100 ppm to 600 ppm, and to be implemented to two different turbidity wastewater, i.e., the one from the process of Refined Bleached Deodorized Palm Stearin (RBDPS) and Refined Bleached Deodorized Palm Olein (RBDPO). The result of the experiment shows that in order to decrease the turbidity of wastewater from RBDPS process below the standard, i.e., 10 NTU, 300 ppm of PAC is needed and 600 ppm of PAC is needed for the treatment of the wastewater of RBDPO process.
Abstract (other language): Salah satu tahapan proses pengolahan limbah cair di PT. Sinar Olechemical International (SOCI) adalah pengolahan secara kimiawi dengan sistem koagulasi dan flokulasi. Koagulasi dilakukan dengan penambahan koagulan Poli Aluminium Klorida (PAC) pada kondisi tertentu. Kinerja PAC ini dipengaruhi oleh pH limbah cair tersebut sehingga dalam penambahan PAC, pH diatur dengan menambahkan Natrium Hidroksida.Dengan mengatur pH limbah cair berada pada pH 8, konsentrasi PAC yang ditambahkan divariasi dari 100 ppm sampai dengan 600 ppm, dengan perlakuan terhadap 2 jenis limbah cair yang mempunyai turbiditas berbeda dari proses produksi Refined Bleached Deodorized Palm Stearin (RBDPS) dan dari proses produksi Refined Bleached Deodorized Palm Olein (RBDPO). Hasil yang diperoleh menunjukkan bahwa untuk menurunkan turbiditas limbah cair sampai nilai ambang batas yaitu 10 NTU dibutuhkan penambahan PAC sebanyak 300 ppm untuk limbah cair RBDPS dan 600 ppm untuk limbah RBDPO.
