dc.description.abstractPenelitian dilakukan untuk mengetahui adanya pengaruh asam sulfat 97 % dan natrium metanolat terhadap rendemen, dan mutu minyak jelantah sebagai substitusi bahan bakar solar (biodiesel). Penelitian ini menggunakan metoda rancangan acak lengkap dengan dua factor, yaitu asam sulfat 97 % (K) : (1, 2, 3, 4 %) dan natrium metanolat (L) : (7.5, 15, 22.5, 30 %). Parameter yang dianalisa adalah rendemen, kadar air, kadar asam lemak bebas, bilangan peroksida dan viskositas. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa asam sulfat 97 % memberikan pengaruh berbeda sangat nyata terhadap rendemen, kadar asam lemak bebas, bilangan peroksida dan viskositas, tetapi memberikan pengaruh yang berbeda tidak nyata terhadap kadar air. Konsentrasi natrium metanolat memberikan pengaruh berbeda sangat nyata terhadap rendemen, asam lemak bebas dan viskositas, tetapi memberikan pengaruh yang berbeda tidak nyata terhadap kadar air dan bilangan peroksida. Interaksi konsentrasi asam sulfat 97 % dan natrium metanolat memberikan pengaruh yang berbeda sangat nyata terhadap rendemen, tetapi memberikan pengaruh yang berbeda tidak nyata terhadap kadar air, asam lemak bebas, bilangan peroksida dan viskositas. Konsentrasi asam sulfat 3 % dan natrium metanolat 30 % menghasilkan biodiesel sebagai bahan substitusi bahan bakar solar yang terbaik.en_US
dc.description.abstractThis research was aimed to know the effect of 97 % sulphuric acid and sodium methanolate on the rendement and quality of wasted frying oil as a substitute for diesel fuel. The research had been performed using factorial completely randomized design (CRD) with two factors, i.e. concentration of sulphuric acid (K) : (1, 2, 3, 4 %) and concentration of sodium methanolate (L) : (7.5, 15, 22.5, 30 %). Parameters analyzed were rendement, moisture content, free fatty acid, peroxide number and viscosity. The result showed that sulphuric acid concentration had highly significant effect on the rendement, free fatty acid, peroxide number and viscosity, but did not show significant effect on moisture content. The sodium methanolate concentration had highly significant effect on the rendement, free fatty acid, and viscosity, but did not show significant effect on moisture content and peroxide number. The interaction of 97 % sulphuric acid and sodium methanolate concentration had highly significant effect on the rendement but did not show significant effects on moisture content, free fatty acid, peroxide number and viscosity. 3 % sulphuric acid and sodium methanolate 30 % gave the best and acceptable quality of biodiesel as a subtitute for diesel fuel.en_US
