dc.description.abstractThis research applies Sistemic Functional Linguistics approach to analyze transitivity system and social context in “Lau Kawar” and “Putri Tikus”. The two texts are choosed because they have the same basic meaning, i.e. ‘swear’ although it is packaged by different cultural background. The analysis results showed that transitivity system in “Lau Kawar” are dominant in the material process, but “Putri Tikus” are dominant in the relational process. The similarity of those two texts occur in particular-human participant and the location sircumstans. In the context of situation, the two texts have the similar meaning, except the participant features. In cultural context, the structure of two texts is different in application of abstract and coda.en_US
