    Abstract
This paper attempts to present the verb category and the semantic roles of the verb arguments in Bahasa Indonesia. The formulation of the verb is measured by time stability-scale. Verb category applies the natural semantic metalanguage theory and concept of semantic roles adopts generalised semantic roles theory. The Indonesian verbs have three main classes, i.e. states, processes, and actions. The state verbs consist of cognition, knowledge, feeling, perception, volition, and possession types; the process verbs include event and non-agentive motion types; and the action verbs comprise with agentive motion, utterance, and movement. The semantic roles of the state verbs are experiencer and experiencer-locative/theme/stimulus, except for perception verbs that have agent-stimulus relations. The participants of the process verbs are patient and the roles in the derivation system are patient and theme. For the action verbs, the participants are effector and agent while the patient becomes locative, theme, and patient.
