Pemanfaatan Limbah Padat Pulp (Sludge) Dengan Serat Pelepah Batang Pisang Menjadi Tatakan Telur

Currently, small scale packaging finds a difficulty in the continous supply of raw material (especially pulp and paper). Sludge (the solid wate of pulp industry) and Banana-stem as fiber materials with ligno cellulose are abundant. However these materials have not been used widely for packaging by industry. Samples were made into chips, processed to become pulp through the semichemical process of closed cautic soda with the boiling condition of : concentration NaOH 10% ; the ratio of Samples and water 1:6 ; and boiling time of 2 hours at the temperature of 170°C with the pressure of 4-5 atm. The obtained average rendemen of the, Banana-stems was 65%. The pulp sheets were formed by varying the composition from 0-100%, tapioca 5%, caolin 5%. The maximum value of Tensile Index and Tearing Index, Bursting Index occurred at the composition of 70% sludge and 30% fibers of ,Banana-stems. The Grammature of Packaging ranges from 430 - 454.5 gr/m2 with density of 4.53 - 4.54.103 kg/m3.
