Malaria is one of the most communicable diseases in Indonesia. In Nias District, North Sumatra Province, malaria is prevalent and contributing to the endemic status of malaria. The previous study showed that human behavior had a relationship with this disease. the objective of this study is to analyze the dynamic of this human behavior. This research was designed using qualitative approach. Key informants were people understanding about this problem and having experiences with this disease. Using EZ-Text 3.06 developed by CDC, descriptive method was developed. Located in Gunungsitoli, this study had collected 8 key informants. The result of study showed that people in endemic area tend to manage their problem by using their own perception and knowledge. While they felt “fever”, for instance, they had their own “diagnostic” for malaria disease. They were familiar buying “pil kina” as a drug for malaria. As a culture, they did not thought malaria as a problem. This study recommend that the community behavior towards malaria have to be changed in order to prevent the resistance of malaria drug in Nias.
