dc.description.abstractRespon seleksi dan terkorelasi sifat pertumbuhan dan produksi puyuh pada seleksi jangka panjang, diperoleh dari 38.578 data dua galur puyuh selama 21 generasi seleksi dari tahun 1993 sampai 2001 di Stasiun Penelitian Merbiz, Universitas Martin Luther, Jerman. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah 1) menghitung kemajuan genetik berdasarkan respon seleksi dan terkorelasi 2) menduga batas seleksi sifat pertumbuhan dan produksi puyuh pada seleksi jangka panjang. Galur pertama diseleksi berdasarkan sifat bobot telur yang besar, sedangkan galur kedua diseleksi berdasarkan sifat bobot badan yang besar dan telur yang kecil. Respon seleksi dan terkorelasi serta batas seleksi diuji dan diduga menggunakan prosedur analisis regresi logaritma menggunakan program MS-EXEL. Hampir semua sifat yang tidak diseleksi, memiliki korelasi yang positif kecuali sifat jumlah telur selama umur 42 hari sampai 200 hari (JT200). Respon seleksi sifat bobot badan pada umur 42 hari (BB42) lebih tinggi dibandingkan sifat bobot badan pada umur 200 hari (BB200). Respon seleksi BB42 lebih tinggi pada puyuh betina daripada puyuh jantan, sebaliknya pada sifat BB200, respon seleksi lebih tinggi pada puyuh jantan daripada puyuh betina. Respon seleksi untuk sifat bobot telur 12 minggu terakhir masa produksi lebih tinggi dibanding pada sifat bobot telur 11 minggu pertama masa produksi (BT 11). Bahkan hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kemajuan genetik lebih tinggi dicapai pada puyuh galur 2 yang diseleksi berdasarkan sifat bobot telur yang besar daripada galur 1 yang diseleksi berdasarkan sifat bobot badan yang besar dan bobot telur yang kecil. Selama 21 generasi seleksi, kemajuan genetik masih tetap bertahan pada semua sifat yang diseleksi, walaupun kecepatan respon seleksi sudah mulai menurun. Berdasarkan pendugaan batas seleksi dari hasil perhitungan respons seleksi dan terkorelasi selama 100 generasi, seleksi pada bobot telur yang kecil memberikan respon yang lebih kecil jika dibandingkan sifat bobot telur yang besar.en_US
dc.description.abstractDirect and correlated responses of growth and production traits in Japanese Quail following long-term selection, were obtained from 38.578 records of two lines of quail over 21 generations selection, from 1993 to 2001 in Merbiz Research Station University of Martin Luther, Germany. The purposes of this study were 1) to examine genetics gain based on direct and correlated responses 2) to estimate the selection limit of growth and production traits in Japanese Quail following long-term selection. The first line of quail was selected on high-body weight and low-egg weight while the second line was selected only on high-egg weight. Direct and correlated responses as well as selection limit were examined and estimated by using logarithmic regression analysis procedure using MS-EXEL program. Almost non-selected traits have positive correlation, except the number of eggs laid between 42 days and 200 days of age (JT200). Selection responses of body weight at age of 42 days (BB42) was higher than the trait of body weight at age of 200 days (BB200). Selection responses of body weight at age of 42 days (BB42) was higher in female than male of quail, while for the trait of body weight at age of 200 days (BB200), responses selection was higher in male than female. Selection responses of the last 12 weeks (BT12) egg weight was higher than egg weight at the first 11 weeks (BT11). Even, results have shown that genetic gain was higher in line 2 of quail, which have been selected based on high-egg weight than line 1, which was selected on both high-body weight and low-egg weight. Following 21 generations of selection, the genetics gain is still remaining on all of selected trait, although the response rate is already declining. According to estimation of selection limit based on direct and correlated responses following 100 generations, selection of low-egg weight give a lower response than high-egg weight.en_US
