Uji Efek Antibakteri Minyak Atsiri Daun Ruku-Ruku (Ocimum sanctum L.) Terhadap Bakteri Staphylococcus

The isolation volatile oil from ruku-ruku’s leave by water and steam distillation and its anti microbial activity assay to Staphylococcus aureus. The isolation volatile oil has been carried out by water and steam distillation, than oil was separated from water. After that, oil was tested its anti microbial activity assay to Staphylococcus aureus with diffusion agar method by using disc paper. Volatile oil from 300 g ruku-ruku’s leave is 2, 43 ml. The result of microbial activity assay show that volatile oil in concentration 50% until 0,4% give inhibition zone to Staphylococcus aureus. Concentration 0,4% is equal to ampisilin trihidrat 150 mcg/ml with inhibition zone 8,0 mm. Minimum inhibition concentration from ampisilin trihidrat 140 mcg/ml is 7,1 mm.
