The reason for choosing this title is due to plantations especially those of oil palm in North Sumatra are the largest producers of export commodity of the national revenue and even these contributed to the largest recruitment of workers and the largest source of downstream agricultural industry (agroindustry). Nowdays, agrobusiness and agroindustry more proven the reliability as export commodity while providing the national income substantially required for continuing the national development and stability. The objective of this study is to analyze the effect of production factors on oil palm production either partially or fully and the optimatization level of any production factors implemented. For the purpose, there are several hypothesis suggested as follows : 1. Utility of production factors (land area, workers and fertilizers) completely has a significant effect on the production of Fresh Fruit Bunch (FFA) of oil palm. 2. The optimization level in use of the production factors is still not as planned. In the other words, the target is not reached. The data collected included secondary one collected from the administration office of plantation especially on the produced plants within 1991 nd 2001. The analysis showed that the production inputs such as land, workers, and fertilizers either partially or completely have a significant effect on the production of Fresh Fruith Bunch (FFB) of oil palm at confidence level of 95%. Of the three production factors mentioned above, only application of fertilizer almost reached an perfect optimatization whereas the utility of land and workers still not reached the optimum so that expansion of such production factors is required to reach the optimum level.
